Re: [Yasmin_discussions] art*science 2017 - The New and History

Giorgio,

I believe the advancement of technology, its availability and affordability
are already enabling the "escape of sciences out of labs" in the most
inclusive sense: wonderful movement is spreading around the globe bringing
people of all generations together to DIY science, to participate and
experience science in ways previously unimaginable on this scale. With VR
and AI the science will undoubtedly become ever more immersive and
engaging, bypassing obstructions for many who were before scared away from
science, and this is definitely a growing contribution to global cultural
heritage worth mentioning and supporting.

When you ask "what arts can do for science" the availability and
affordability of technology unfortunately does not offer such a
straightforward answer as above. And yet it is a crucial question in
discussing the topic of heritage and innovation. In this regard you propose
the "transdisciplinary way," the imaginary, the dreams. I agree these are
the ways to explore. The role of the imaginary solutions and of the
transdisciplinary zone have been briefly discussed a few posts back. How do
you propose we explore it? How do we adopt the technologies on this path?
How were the ancient technologies of the Mediterranean Rim adopted for this
purpose?
