[Yasmin_discussions] Fwd: AHRC project

gemma anderson sends us this steam news- much going on these days
and we welcome all yasminers to tell us about their current projects

roger malina

Dear Yasminers, thank you all for a great dialogue on STEAM, I wanted
to write to let you know about some new projects that will contribute
to the STEAM campaign.

First, the AHRC bid I submitted with John Dupre and James Wakefield
'Representing Biology as Process' was successful in receiving funding
and the project will begin in July at Exeter University (Devon, UK)
and run for three years. I will be 80% on the project as
co-investigator based in Exeter with trips to London and to Biology
Labs in Europe (Barcelona, Paris, Vienna). The project explores
drawing as a way of knowing in Biology and aims to re-integrate
drawing into scientific practice in the collaborating labs. There will
be a series of public exhibitions and workshops integrated into the
project which I hope will contribute to the art/science wider culture.

Second, I wanted to let you know that my book Drawing as a Way of
Knowing in Art and Science (Intellect Press, UK) is now in the
type-setting (final) phase of production and is due to be released in
september this year. Please let me know if you would like more
information about the book.

all best,

all best,

Dr Gemma Anderson
Artist and Lecturer in Drawing at Falmouth University
Honorary Research Fellow, Egenis, University of Exeter
Drawing Research Associate, The Big Draw, UK
