I would find it very interesting and rich to invite you into the discussion of 'Oral tradition being transmitted onto film as well as Oral tradition being transmitted with other new technological platforms such as utube, skype, second life, cell phones and email...ect' because you are all connected with this thinking pattern since many of you have dedicated your lives to communication art and technology research. Wether it be from an ancient oral tradtionnal level such as Ricardo Gustavo Espeja, Tassadit Yacine, Christine Allison, Aziza B.Bey, Said Adel, Hanane Derkaoui do, or a more film/video way such as does Vitor Reia Baptista, Branda Miller, Tom Sherman do or a more internet way such as Tom Sherman, Wafa Bourkhis and Roger Malina do.
I will start the discussion with the video art workshops i have initiated with the berbers of Morocco summer 2002 in ERrachidia , the 2 video art workshops i have given summer 2008 and summer 2009 in Beni Yeni , Algeria which has led to the creation of the association 'Djurdjura cinema'. 10 films were made together with the young people of these communities and have revealed amazing talent and a different filmmaking style. These workshops were done with a minimum amount of material; a hand held camera, a tripod, a microphone and a computer to edit on with final cut pro.
