[Yasmin_discussions] what oft was thought

Dear Stephen,

With the critical proviso that the scientific world
view does not preclude transcendental ideas like
"wonder" and "compassion", as per my original
reference to the writings of Loren Eiseley, I must say
that your Yasmin blog post of today, "Why does
art-science matter?" -- and let us note the date for
art historical purposes: Sunday, October 19th, 2014! --
has been a revelation to me.

One follows these blogs with a certain forbearance:
fellow travelers beating the same dead horse with
slightly different colored whips; but your formulation
of art in the service of science as opposed to religion
must be accorded the highest of Enlightenment
honors: "What oft was thought, but ne'er so well
express'd."

Regards,
G. W. (Glenn) Smith
