[Yasmin_discussions] The Arts in the Context of Darwinian Theory of Evolution Today

http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=182287241302&ref=nf

This paper by Rachel Armstrong:
examines current developments in the field of molecular biology in the
context of pertinent observations made by feminist thinkers on
biological science. It proposes that at the start of the twenty first
century, there is a convergence between feminist and biological
scientific agendas, suggesting a more complex view of life and cell
mechanisms than accepted by traditional science. A new reading of
biological identity becomes possible when situated in a framework of
Systems Science, or the scientific study of complexity that supports a
mechanism for the evolution of Haraway's cybernetic entities [1] in
the real world and in doing so, embodies the unique politics of the
cyborg. By changing the scientific framework against which the
identity of an organism is read, it is possible to propose a different
reading of evolutionary theory to biological determinism
