Re: [Yasmin_discussions] Narcissism and Anthropocentrism

Dear Laura, YasminersI wanted to answer to your question about NarcissismMarshall Mc Luhann talked about it in his book "Understanding media", he said that the human beings uses technologies to satisfy their narcissism. Wich is the case of the artist Patrick MOYAHe is a french artist working in Nice (France)This artist puts his patrimonial name on all his artworks, to express his narcissim and egcentrism as explained the psychologist Florence CANARELLI.He work only on his artwork and he define that the narcissism is a part of creativity and human intelligence"Do not be too modest, because modesty is an obstacle to human intelligence. I mean the inner modesty, as modesty is a form of external politeness and propriety, good human relations, and thus the satisfaction of our claims""Ne soyons pas trop modestes, car la modestie est un frein à l'intelligence humaine. J'entends la modestie intérieure, car la modestie extérieure est une forme de
politesse et de convenance utile aux relations humaines, et donc à la satisfaction de nos prétentions"*So, you can find all his works on his website and also on his island in Second Life and enjoy his narcissism:http://moyacircus.com/* CANARELLI Florence, Le

Dear Pier Luigi,
Dear Yasminers,

I'm not a respondent in this debate but I've been following it and I find
all the posts very interesting. So I'd like to do a simple question,
starting from a short sentence.
As far as I'm concerned, that is from an ephistemological and sociological
point of view, the anthropocentrism – and its linked concept: narcissism –
it's mainly a symbolic issue. In other words: only the human beings can
leave the anthropocentric point of view as a symbolic instance. According to
Edgar Morin I mean… If we try to define a sort of "eco-thought" (that could
include nature and technology as well) we must conceive this process as an
human awareness or necessity to reduce the complexity of the world.
Now I'm wondering: what does it means for the art and for the artists? What
kind of art, which example or case,  is based on this kind of awareness or
necessity?
