Re: [Yasmin_discussions] multi modal illusions

Forgive the whiff of self-promotion, please, but you may find this post from
"Intermedia Patterns," a blog Jack Ox and I have been working on, of
interest as an attempt at clarifying terms about synsthesia:

http://www.ignotus.com/intermedia/2008/02/types-of-intermodal-experience/

It's a summary of a chapter in Alan Merriam's Anthropology of Music,
describing the many varieties of cross-modal experience and cross-modal
language. The ways that multi-sensory perception affects language would be
an interesting topic in itself--and possibly a window on neurological
functioning, too.

best,
