Re: [Yasmin_discussions] ARTISTS AS INVENTORS, art as invention

Greetings yasminers, good to see this active discussion ,
sorry for minimal contribution, just on prototyping etc, a central point here is scale invariance and scale locality or dependence, some things (eg turbulence, gravity, electromagnetic fields) work exactly the same in a cofee/teaa/miso cup than in a galaxy, you scale up and down smoothly every intermediate size has a chance to exist, and this smoothnes of behaviour is what makes models, mathematical (equations) and physical (toys) useful you can try out a model wing, machune or building in a tunnel and what you learn works at 10 or 1000 times the size.

this does not work for living processes which are strongly scale dependent , this has to do with the fact that long range correlations in spacetime in physical proceses decay kind of exponentially in both space and time while in biological assmeblages some very long range correlations are mantained by active orienteed flows and assymetirc intefaces (eg genetic pathways, libraries, cell phones) and thus prototypes cannot be scaled but can eventually reproduce

good week
