Re: [Yasmin_discussions] Art and Atoms: Fusion and Fission

Patrick

Yes, I was thinking of art work with real data from the lab. Along the
lines of the cosmophone, but in the case of ITER it would be following
closely trajectories of particles inside the reactor and also somehow
representing the magnetic field forces inside.

I enjoyed reading this page about "une journée ordinaire" at the Tore Supra
lab:
http://www-fusion-magnetique.cea.fr/gb/fusion/physique/une_journee_ordinaire
.htm
. It gives a good feel for what the environment could be like at ITER.

Your point about the facility being here in Provence is well taken. I also
find it fascinating for a fusion project that different parts of the
reactors are being built around the world and will be brought together to
the site first by boat to Marseille and then along a specially-modified
road.
